Austin criminal defense attorney Gerald E. “Jerry” Smith was admitted to the Texas Bar November 11, 1979. He is also admitted to practice before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
Jerry has tried both civil and criminal jury trials in the United States District Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas as well as numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Caldwell, Bastrop, Harris, Fort Bend, Dallas, McClennan, Smith, Harrison, Rusk, and Gregg Counties. In 2013 and 2014 he was a member of the faculty at the Evidence Boot Camp sponsored by the Center for American and International Law in Plano, Texas.
Jerry attended Sam Houston State University (B.S. Criminology 1973), and received his legal education from South Texas College of Law (Doctor of Jurisprudence, 1979). Jerry is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and DUI Defense Lawyers Association. In March, 2015, he was admitted into membership in The National Association of Distinguished Counsel as a Member of the Nation’s Top One Percent.
Kelli Brizendine was raised in Austin, Texas. She attended Texas State University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and obtained her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio. Kelli was admitted to the Texas State Bar in November of 2014. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Kelli was an investigator with Child Protective Services. Kelli is a member of the State Bar of Texas, DUI Defense Lawyers Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Hays County Defense Attorneys Bar Association, and Texas Young Lawyers Association.
